Ferber’s First Law of Aeronautical Entertainment: The good movie is always on the flight going the other way.

Corollary (”Round-Trip Switcheroo”): By the time of your return trip, they’ve changed the movies.

(Ferber’s Trump of 2008: “I have a video iPod, suckers, and no, I will not be needing your crappy $2 headsets.” Turns out a nice weepy Doctor Who episode can hold it’s own against “Bee Movie” any day.)

Jackasses with iPhones

No idea if this is true, but I sure hope so:

“If the passenger with the IPhone would be kind enough to use it to check the weather at our alternate, calculate our fuel burn due to being rerouted around the storms, call the dispatcher to arrange our release, and then make a phone call to the nearest Air Traffic Control center to arrange our timely departure amongst the other aircraft carrying passengers with IPhones, then we will be more than happy to depart. Please ring your call button to advise the Flight Attendant and your fellow passengers when you deem it ready and responsible for this multi-million dollar aircraft and its passengers to safely leave.”

Shooting video

Q. What’s more fun than going on a waterskiing trip with a bunch of people you’ve never met before (except one), all of whom know each other, and all of whom are in four thousand times better physical condition than you are?

A. Shooting some video from the boat with your digital camera (which you only just remembered it could do) and then using an ancient copy of iMovie to edit the good bits into a fun little 4-minute vid.

Here’s the video (warning: may induce motion sickness). Still pictures are here.
